Emotiva 2.0 and the Nostala LB12
An an exciting new line for aspiring audiophiles.
I currently have two stereo systems in my home. My main system is currently composed of a Rogue Audio Pharaoh II and Mofi Sourcepoint 10s. This system is undergoing some upgrades that I plan to detail in an upcoming post. My second system includes a vintage Marantz 2235b and a pair of Linton 85th Wharfedales. I am happy with both systems, but as is the case with most audiophiles, I am always on the search for a slight upgrade or a different sound. That is why I’m intrigued with what has been happening with Emotiva. Their reputation for producing solid products at attainable pricing has me excited for their “2.0” reset this year. I plan on attending Axpona in April to see what the hype is all about. Their first release under the 2.0 banner is the Nostala LB12 Speakers. Obviously designed for those fans who are nostalgic for a modern version of the JBL L100s or the Pioneer HPM 100s. I am sure many audiophile fans are familiar with HiFi Huff and New Day Records, but incase you are not, I have posted their reviews below. It appears that Huff is a little more happy with LB12s than Ron is, but they both give the speakers a favorable review. What I like about Huff’s reviews is that he tests his equipment in his home and his limited space feels closer to the setup I live with. Ron tests equipment in what looks like a professional listening studio. What I like about both channels is that even though they test equipment that I will never own, the fact that they’ve spent time with the best of the best means that you can trust them when they rave about an affordable product. I’ve included both reviews below. In addition I added the Emotiva podcast where they talk about 2026 and the new 2.0 line.
